"MOUSE - Founded to help young children with developmental
disabilities, this institution was now addressing the issue of
teenagers being adequately prepared to find employment in a technologically
driven economy. However, the board was essentially composed
of the founding group of parents. VCG helped them redesign
their board with business advisors who could provide both expertise
and information about training and employment opportunities."
"Surviving The Retirement Of A Founder - An organization dedicated to
educational innovation was confronted with the retirement of its founder (whose tenure was
over thirty years) as well as a major shift in the composition of its board. VCG
worked with the organization to define a board structure that would allow them to grow the
organization. VCG also brought two new board members to the organization - a senior
executive from a technology firm and a senior manager from one of the big six accounting
firms."
"Losing Public Support - After many years of providing government-funded
employment training and job placement for its targeted population--highly motivated
disadvantaged youth--this organization needed to rebuild its financial base and evaluate
its program deliverables. VCG was asked to facilitate the board's self-assessment of
its role in resource development and strategic planning in this changed climate."
