| Mr. Flax is the Chief
Information Officer of TheStreet.com. Prior to this, he was
the Chief Information Officer of Cowen and Company. In addition
he also held positions as Managing Director, with many years
of experience, at the NYSE and in the securities industry. He
was responsible for Trading Technology and the NYSE's transition
to a Hybrid Market. Mr. Flax oversaw the development of the
Specialists transition from manual participants in the market
to fully electronic, algorithmically assisted market makers.
Prior to his role with the NYSE, he was Director of Web Systems.
In that role, Mr. Flax built the technology that powered the
NYSE's websites and empowered the NYSE's authors to create content.
In addition to his role at TheStreet.com, Daniel enjoys volunteering
with several New York organizations. For several years, he
was active with NYC2012 in their efforts to bring the 2012
Summer Olympic Games to New York City. Daniel lectures to
technology fans of NYSIA and the Princeton Macintosh Users
Group (PMUG). Daniel also volunteers as an Industry Consultant
for Junior Achievement, teaching economics and business to
local high school students. Daniel also donates platelets
regularly through the New York Blood Center and actively encourages
all healthy adults to give blood too!
Mr. Flax holds a Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering
from Columbia University and he was an Undergraduate Research
Fellow in High Energy Astrophysics at CalTech in a joint program
with the Jet Propulsion Laboratory and NASA.
